This delightful rural village is a pleasant sight to see with its houses and gardens cascading towards the cliffs of the valley. It is perched high up on the mountain side (1200m above sea level) and is nestled against the pine forests, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea as far as the eye can see and even out towards Rhodes Island on a clear day.
Faralya is a beautiful place to relax in peaceful surroundings and a natural environment, great for hiking, nearby deserted beaches, breath taking views, swimming and chilling out.
The hamlet is just over 8km south of Olu Deniz Beach resort, famed by its Blue Lagoon (30km south of Fethiye Town) and is accessed by a narrow and winding tarmac road. There are dolmus mini buses connecting the village, with the service continuing on to Kabak. The journey offers panoramic views of the sea and though the distance is not huge, it takes about 30 minutes.
This small and quiet village is located on the `Lycian Way`, which is made up of a series of trekking courses that join together several ancient Lycian sites and there are endless beautiful views to savour along the way.
Faralya is just south of the hidden gem known locally as Butterfly Valley which is a protected nature reserve where an abundance of over 60 rare butterfly species inhabits. The valley is accessible by boat or a steep trek on the Lycian way which is rarely undertaken, resulting in an almost untouched and still pure secluded valley with two small waterfalls if you hike through this almost secret valley.
Life certainly flows by at a relaxed pace in Faralya and the coastline of this region provides ample opportunity for discovering tiny secluded sandy coves and small islands. Faralya is the perfect place to enjoy a peaceful and relaxed lifestyle, whilst experiencing the quiet rural Turkish life in countryside which is covered in wild flowers with colours most of the year and allows for refreshing breezes during the hot summer evening due to the raised location.
